Interment Mumford Rural Cemetery. Memorials to the family.

This is the father of one of my best girlfriends, Lisa. Funny how are friend's parents are supposed to live forever (along with our own). I will tell you what though, Mr Quackenbush was a example to many. For the last 40 years of his life he had major health issues; rheumatoid arthritis being the most constant, and a bought or two with cancer over the years. But I never remember him bed-ridden. I remember a vegetable garden that took up more than half of his back yard. And a man that LOVED and cared for his grandchildren, and could fix anything. Family was his pride and joy and probably what kept him going. He lived all his life in the same house he was born in, and passed on there Tuesday night. Talk about roots.
Lisa's boys are my sons age and they are all very good friends. As we visited with 13 year old Brandon last night, who misses his Grandpa very much, we talked about all the things that Grandpa taught him about doing right and working hard and loving family. Mr. Q left the most important legacy any of us could leave.
Good bye dad!
