I hope all you mom's had a lovely Mother's Day. We celebrated both our 10 year anniversary and Mother's Day this weekend, so I was doubly blessed. We went out for a very nice dinner Saturday for our anniversary. We don't always "go out" to mark the date as it is right in the middle of spring sports and always near Mother's Day. Trying to make a date this time of year is often just plain old exhausting! This year DH was adamant to celebrate our 10 years together and it was special!

Mother's Day was also a little different. We usually have a big picnic with many of DH's family. This year, however, his mom is in Hawaii!!! We've had two phone calls from her so far. The first, she left a message on the machine, "Aloha, my cell phone works from Hawaii!!!"; and on Mom's day she called from Waikiki Beach splashing in the Pacific ocean!! The woman was positively giddy!!

So what did we do for M's Day? Well, after church we went to a large pet store and bought lots of goodies for our new friend who will be with us in 10 more days!!! We are chomping at the bit crazy waiting for the big day!!!

I forgot to show you the bottles I found out back. I went exploring a bit over Spring Break in a hedge behind our yard. On the hilltop is an old railroad bed and it is evident that people in the neighborhood dumped their old glass wear down the back of the hill. I found a few unbroken pretties: They are sitting on my laundry room shelf for the time being. The small one is showing up very well, but it is a beautiful cobalt blue. The bottle on the left has a white residue in it, so I won't open it to get it any cleaner.

I finished my wall hanging!! A WIP is actually finished, I am so excited!! The last couple days of Spring Break after we put our dog, Jasmine, down; I didn't do much else besides read and sew like a mad woman. A little therapy I guess. Here is my next project that is in the works, and it is even much further along than the photo.
The log cabin block patterns were actually part of a much larger quilt from Better Homes and Gardens that I started last summer. They were for a queen size quilt and I was going along fairly well until I got to the sashing. It had all these little, I mean LITTLE triangles and squares that were sewn to strips that would meet up and make lovely stars. I played around with that for one day and said "nope, not for me!" So my 36 log cabin blocks sat in a baggy until Spring Break when I desperately needed some sewing therapy. I looked through some books so I could get a decent idea how they could go together, added two more borders and now I'm even quilting on my machine. Since it's just about all my creation, I'm calling it "Jasmine's Cabin". Yes, I am a sap!

Well, I have 10 more days to puppy proof the house, I feel like I'm baby proofing all over again. Of course, back then, I did not have so much STUFF!

There has been much on the news about horrible weather across the country. I pray you and yours are all safe.

INTRODUCING...

MANDI MAY!

No, I'm not kidding, we went and bought a Boxer puppy last week. My husband blames me; I blame him! It was just so...quiet and lonely with no fur baby to pet and dote on! Every day DH and I get home at the same time and the conversation invariably went back to missing Jasmine; and from there it went from "well what if we...?" Then I said well I'll be on summer vacation in a month that IS the opportune time to get a puppy. Before we knew we were packing the bewildered children in the car and heading to a beautiful farm to just look at a litter of pups. We left as owners.

The excitement and anticipation in the house is a wonderful balm to the heartbreak we so recently went through. Such a weird thing life is; missing one pet while looking forward to another. The kids tell me the countdown number every morning, noon and night....15 more days, mom!! How will we ever make it??

I guess this is what life is made of!

She's looking right at us there...ready for all sorts of mischief!

Hey! I'm Here!!!

Phew! Time does fly when I go back to work after a two week break!! I love the time off, but getting back in the "groove" of work takes some doing sometimes.

I have a potpourri of stuff to share since I finally got some pictures ready, so I'll start and see how far I get!!

Ok, get your hankies out girls; I have to show pictures of the last quilt Jasmine helped me with about a week before she passed away. I came to a stand still on a bigger project and came a cross some strips DS had made and never finished for 4H. I decided to finish it up for him and my helper had to be right in the middle. Boy do I miss her every day!

I also have some goodies here I'd like to share. Some of that "Farmgirl Friendship" I've been gushing about! Here is a tea towel made by Tori's Mimi:
And an adorable apron made by Cinnamongirl Carrie:

I love those Hens and Chicks!!

Aunt Jo sent me a lovely handmade pillow. Looks like she "knew" I have a bit of Americana in my living room!
I love to sit back and look at my treasures from friends and think of ways to bless them back!

I think I'll close for now, but I have more to share another day! Make sure you stop by and say hello!
