Looking Back

Here we are a week into 2009. Despite the what the media says, I feel good. I know God is in control. That doesn't mean I never fret, but when those times come, I batten down the hatches and draw closer to Him.

Many of you know there were many changes here in 2008. We started off the new year finding out our dear friend and companion of 11+ years had bone cancer. Jasmine, our dog, died in April. Mandi May came into our life in, well, May! By the end of June I had a full-time job. Big change for me. I hadn't worked full time in 14 years and I had really gotten into the habit of doing pretty much anything I wanted whenever I wanted. (wow, I sound like I was a spoiled brat!) But you know what I mean, while I was always busy, I had the flexibility to mostly get it all done and have plenty of time to spare. Life isn't like that any longer and that is ok. I am relearning how to prioritize and maybe even appreciate leisure a little more.

This summer we had time to visit one of my favorite places; a living history museum nearby. What a beautiful day it was and they were holding an old time country fair.

These veggies are real!!
Some fair entries

Well, I had a couple more but I can't seem to get them to come up now. Maybe another time!

Let us pray that 2009 is good...joy comes from within!

Bon,
Sounds to me like you have a good outlook and have gained control of what can be controled. And that is the key word, "CAN". Like my Grandma used to say, 'WELL NEVER MIND" seemed to work. Kind of that Scarlet O"Hara thing, "I'LL THINK ABOUT THAT TOMORROW." Sometimes that really works, because it goes away, gets better, or wasn't as bad as you thought.
I do miss , for you those school vacations, but so glad you found a job you like, and I bet you are really good at.
Love those living History things. We have been to Mumford a few times I always like that.
If the new puppy doesn't bite pat him or her on the head for me a couple of times.

Hello Bonnie!
Loved visiting and catching up with you again! You have a wonderful way of writing!
I too, do not fret over things, not to say I have a "pie in the sky" mentality either. There are always concerns--its just how one handles them. Like you--just trusting God-- for He is the best and only truth and answer!
I've been to the village--its a wonderful place! I enjoyed all your pictures (visited your other blog) and handmade items also.
That's great about your new job--I'm sure it has its challenges--time wise. In a way--I'm facing a time challenge also--I will soon be doing eBay full time, as my dear husband is facing a year of therapy (similar to chemo. eBay is very time consuming and I too will not be able to do the things I really love to do as much. But I'm thankful that I have learned so much since starting blogging two years ago. The knowledge is coming in real handy in speeding up the whole eBay process--(I can see the Lord preparing me!) I'm also thankful that I can be of help to my husband who has always done the same for me!
So happy to hear from You--Blessings and prayers--Claudia O.

Hi Bonnie,
Just wanted you to know that I LOVED receiving your card. Just made my day. Thank you so much for thinking of me.

You know, I'm looking forward to good things this year too. I realize that times are tough but you know sometimes those times make us really appreciate the basics and rejoice in the little things. It has done that for me!

Love your positive attitude! I hope you know how much you're missed.

Love,
Lea
